A Day in Oxford

Last week I visited Oxford for the second time, but this time with my mum and dad.
It had been 30 years since my parents had been to Oxford so they were very excited to see how it had changed!

We drove to a park and ride called Pear Tree, parked up and then go on the bus. I think its a bit cheeky as the last time I visited it was free to park then you just paid for the bus. However it is now £2 to park and you have to pay for the bus also. However this specific bus had a special deal for two, so we got it a little cheaper.

The bus was super quick and took us through a very nice, posh part of Oxford and dropped us right in the centre.

We hopped off the bus in search of somewhere for a coffee. We ended up at Patisserie Valerie which is at the bottom of the high street. Now I am a strange person and don't like hot drinks, therefore don't drink tea or coffee, but I do like the taste of coffee. Since America I have got into iced coffees, and absolutely love them! I ordered an iced caramel coffee frappe and it was simply delicious, however I wish there was more of it! I also had a croissant.

Mum had been online and found a walk of Oxford, so she took us on a scenic walk of Oxford seeing all the sights and historic buildings.Oxford is so pretty, and it was hard to not snap too many pictures! The little B&B with the bicycle outside was my favourite! It was nice to see all the colleges, however its a shame you have to pay to visit every single one!

We also visited the covered market which had the most amazing cake stall. You could watch the staff icing and making the cakes, I took a little too many pictures!

We also went to the canal and saw all the boats that can be hired during the summer.

We were all unanimous in agreeing that we would want to come back in the summer, the pictures would be nicer and the weather would be warmer!

Have you visited somewhere new recently? xoxo

A sunny Saturday at Grey's Court

Today we drove to Henley to a National Trust property called Grey's Court.
We did a large walk around the edge of the estate over the Chiltern Hills. The sun was shining and it was the perfect day for a walk, it felt like summer had arrived! I even managed to get slightly burnt!

We then visited the grounds, heading firstly to the Tea Rooms for a well deserved coffee and cake. I opted for an elderflower presse and Raspberry Eton Mess Victoria sandwich. It was delicious and has inspired me to make this sometime soon!

After this we climbed the tower and were treated to beautiful views of the house and gardens. The gardens looked spectacular, with a variety of flowers and the stunning wisteria.

We then explored the gardens and enjoyed going through the wisteria tunnel and taking many pictures. We then found out that the wisteria was 120 years old! Wow! I wish I could have a massive wisteria tree in my garden with its lilac flowers!

We then explored the fruit, vegetable and herb garden. My favorite seeing the orange plant as I had never seen one before!

Here are a couple of pictures from the day! :)

What a lovely day! :) xoxo

Oxfordshire walk and pub lunch -The Swan Inn

Spring is most definitely here so my family and I decided to take advantage of the clear blue sky's and temperatures of 15c and go on a long countryside walk with a pub lunch. We drove to the beautiful and quintessential village of Burford in Oxfordshire and did a long walk with a pub lunch in the middle.

We visited The Swan Inn in Swinbrook. It was a beautiful pub where in fact David Cameron took President Francois Hollande for lunch recently. As it was a Sunday they were mostly serving Sunday lunch, however I had half a chicken and skinny chips served with harissa mayo - delicious! The choice for starters, mains and also puddings was superb.I wish I could've had a starter and a pudding but my main course was so filling! The pudding that took my attention was the bramley apple crumble served with cinnamon ice cream. According to a little note on the menu this is what Cameron and Hollande ate so it must be good!!
