Wagamamas

I have been craving a Wagamamas for ages, and couldn't honestly tell you the last time I visited. So when my friend suggested a dinner date to Waga's I couldn't turn it down.

When I first started visiting Waga's I always had the chicken katsu curry, because it is simply amazing. However on more recent visits I started to have the chicken raisukaree, which is stir fried chicken in a coconut thai sauce served with sticky rice.

However since I hadn't been in ages I went back to my roots and thoroughly enjoyed my katsu curry! The crispy chicken and the sauce are divine, and I loveee the salad and the dressing they serve on it!

We also had my favourite duck gyoza as a side. The duck gyoza are served with an amazing cherry hoi sin sauce, and I will order these without fail whenever I visit Wagamama's.

The thing I like Waga's is that you all sit on long tables so it feels very warm and welcoming and the staff are always super friendly and helpful.

However, I just wish I knew how to use chopsticks!

The Collective UK Yoghurts

I was recently recommended these yoghurts by a customer so had to try them.

I bought a mini pot of the passion fruit one as a taster and loved it, so I went back and bought a large pot of Passion Fruit plus Scottish Raspberry as they were on 2 for £4 in Waitrose.

The yoghurts are super thick and are called a live gourmet yoghurt, they then have a fruit layer. The yoghurt is creamy and smooth and the tangy fruit layer provides great contrast and flavour.

I then bought the limited edition Coffee yoghurt and the Russian Fudge one. The 2 for £4 offer had ended at Waitrose and they were now on 25% off the large tub, making them £1.79 for a large tub - bargain!!

All my customers raved about the Russian Fudge flavour, however I must admit it wasn't my favourite - but I think it am more of a fruity gal!

I love iced coffee, coffee iced cream and anything coffee flavoured (I just don't like a warm cup of coffee - I'm strange!), so I had high hopes for the limited edition coffee flavour. It definitely tasted of coffee and was super creamy, but again I think I prefer fruit yoghurts!

I think my favourite is the passionfruit flavour and I will be buying this again very very soon! Maybe I shall try the lemon one next?

Sunny Saturday Brunch in Sheffield

Yesterday morning was beautiful and sunny, so me and my housemate decided to go for a long walk and trample in the woods. We walked around Endcliff Park and Botanical Gardens and it was lovely.

We wrapped up in winter warmers and had a lovely stroll in the winter sunshine. There was not a cloud in the sky!

We then went to Couch, which is a fairly new cafe on Eccelsall Road. After living on the Eccy road for nearly 4 months, we regularly look inside Couch but have not yet ventured in!

We went for Brunch and sat on a nice table right by the counter.

For drink I had an iced mocha. I have never had an iced mocha and would normally go for an iced caramel latte however this was not on the menu! I enjoyed the mocha, but iced caramel lattes are still my all time favourite!

I then had the american style pancakes with maple syrup and boy were they good! There were 3 large pancakes and a generous bowl of maple syrup. Simply delicious!

We even got 10% student discount which was fab!

I very much enjoyed my brunch and will most definitely be returning! xoxo

Rachel Reviews: Müller de luxe Corner - Vanille d'or

Müller have brought out a new deluxe range and this particular one caught my attention as the description sounded simply divine, and of course because it was on offer for £1 (for two!) in Sainsburys.

The yoghurt comes with shortcake caramel biscuit balls which are coloured gold. The yoghurt has a smooth toffee layer at the bottom of it.

This yoghurt definitely lived up to the description and exceeded my expectations! The yoghurt and toffee www smooth and creamy and the caramel shortcake balls complimented the yoghurt perfectly.

I sometimes find with these yoghurts that there is not enough of the 'corner' be it fruit pieces, chocolate or fruit. However I found there was ample biscuit pieces and was not short of biscuit balls.

I am glad I randomly picked these off the shelf. I am obviously impressed with them as I did my second 'Rachel Reviews' post of them!

I would recommend these to any sweet toothed yoghurt lover like myself!

MasterChef Restaurant & Bar

Unfortunately my first foodie post on returning from America, is not a positive one!

I bought my mum for her birthday tickets to the MasterChef Restaurant & Bar. Tickets flew like hot cakes for this, and they even extended the restaurant for a week due to popular demand. I was only able to get Brunch tickets as they lunch and dinner ones were gone!

I was excited to visit the restaurant, which is advertised as 'MasterChef champions and finalists from the last ten years will lead the kitchen and be appearing in front of your eyes'. Additionally the website states that 'you are invited to meet the champions, eat their dishes and experience MasterChef first hand' 

However this was not the case. The chef's were not present, we could not meet them, and they didn't even cook our food.

Leading swiftly onto the food itself, which was a complete let down. We were served yoghurt and granola. Well I can't imagine the chefs made the yoghurt by hand. We were also served a bowl of fruit. Cannot imagine the chefs sliced the fruit either.

We were then offered a choice of scrambled eggs and salmon on a toasted muffin, or buttermilk pancakes with maple bacon.

I went for the pancakes. There was not enough maple syrup for the pancakes, and the bacon was too fatty. The quality of the ingredients was awful. My mum had the scrambled eggs and salmon and said that the salmon was awful.

Such a shame to be writing such a negative blog post about the MasterChef Pop-Up as I was so excited to go, and more importantly super excited to meet the chefs and watch them cook. However even if the chefs were actually cooking the 'open kitchen' wasn't even open at all,  merely a small window! 

I would have much preferred to have spent the money on a brunch elsewhere, where the experience and food would've been 10 times better and probably half the price. 

Trying to make a laugh of the awful situation!

So now I am home and to cheer myself up I think I will bake something tasty! Most probably a scrummy post to follow!

Rachel Reviews: Solero Mojito Ice Lolly

I think a mojito is my favourite alocoholic cocktail to drink. My favourite being mango or raspberry mojito, you cannot beat a sunny day with a cold mojito, so when I saw the Solero Mojito Ice Lollies in the supermarket I just had to try them.

I noticed that the packaging said, contains rum for adults only so I had no idea what to expect, however was willing to give it a try!

The ice lolly lives up to its name and surely tastes of an ice cold mojito. In the centre are strange jelly like pieces which taste of citrus, mint and rum. The texture I have to admit is quite odd and takes a while to get used to, however adds a bit of excitement and difference to the lolly. Although I can tell these jelly pieces will not be everyone's cup of tea!

To my disappointment the packaging for the lolly was just plain white, however I guess they need to cut costs somewhere and the box looks great! It was the box in the freezer section that drew me to the product with its vibrant green packaging. However I guess when sold individually they will have the Solero Mojito wrapper. 

I would definitely recommend these ice lollies for a warm sunny day or after a BBQ as they are instantly refreshing without the calories of alcohol from a real mojito - 55 calories per lolly.

I wonder how many it will take to make you tipsy?! xoxo
